Yemeni people staged demonstrations in various cities--where the revolutionary squares continue--to voice their support to the recent decrees by President Abdrabu Mansour Hadi to restructure and reunify the armed forces.

The demonstrations were held after Friday prayers. The demonstrators urged more decisive decrees to fire the remaining relatives and loyalists of the former president who hold key posts in the army and the security authorities.

On 60th Street in the capital Sanaa, the protesters also demanded to release all those who have been detained in connection with the 2011 popular uprising and to try the killers of the revolutionaries last year.

The decrees issued on Wednesday night were on the main structure of the Yemeni armed forces that no longer includes the republican guard whose commander was the elder son of the former president Ahmed Saleh and the first armored division which defected to the popular uprising last year.

The first armored division was commanded by Ali Mohsen, who was once a key military chief and ally of the former president.

Ahmed Saleh and Ali Mohsen have been blamed for the division of the armed forces, nd the decrees come as part of the plan to restructure and reunify them.

The decrees have drawn wide local and external support, especially from the countries sponsoring the power-transition deal.

Ahmed Saleh is still the commander of one of the key republican guard brigades in the capital Sanaa and Ali Mohsen continues to be the commander of the northwestern military zone. During the demonstrations, the Yemeni people demanded Hadi to fire them from these posts too.
