Three suspected Al-Qaeda militants were killed in an airstrike which was carried out by a US drone in Yemen's eastern Hadramout province on Monday, sources told Yemen Post.
The sources quoted a local security source as saying the strike targeted the car of the militants in the Samoun district at 5:00 pm.
"Three burned bodies were found after the attack, and the locals said the militants did not belong to the area," the security source continued.
Separately, the Yemeni army launched on Monday a fresh offensive against tribal saboteurs and militants who have been accused of repeated attacks on the Marib oil pipeline and other public facilities including power towers in Marib province.
The offensive, the second since the Marib-Ras Isa pipeline stopped pumping after successive attacks in early last month, was carried out as the authorities were trying to fix the remaining damages to the pipeline.
The authorities has completed the repairs to the pipeline in the Wadi Abida and Serwah districts and are now negotiating with tribes to fix the damages in the Habab area.
Also, the authorities said a convict was responsible for the fire which broke out inside the central prison in Ibb province few days ago killing eight and injuring other inmates.
Abdul Kareem Rashid Al-Badani had been convicted to death after he was found guilty of murder, Saba reported.
"He was involved in riot inside this prison a month ago and has been transferred from a cell to another because of his acts," the agency quoted an official as saying.
