Houthi militants with support from forcse loyal to ex-president intensified mortar attacks on populated areas, houses and popular resistance fighters in south Yemen on Wednesday.
Local sources said the mortar attacks targeted the Crater town in Aden and several areas near the 33th military brigade in Dhale.
Two citizens were killed and more than a dozen others injured in the attacks, they said.
Meanwhile, popular resistance committees clashed with Houthi militants who have been seeking to take over the two cities for weeks.
The humanitarian situation has fast deteriorated because of ongoing violence in the south.
The developments coincided a meeting by the UN Security Council on a drafted resolution by the GCC states calling for a military action in Yemen.
The resolution also calls for blacklisting leader of the Houthi militant group, Abdulmalik Al-Houthi and son of ex-president Ahmed Saleh.
A vote on it is expected to take place today or tomorrow.
The Council has sanctioned ex-president Saleh and two Houthi military leaders on grounds they have undermined the transition process.
Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia launched a military operation on positions, brigades, bases and weapons controlled by the Houthi militants two weeks ago.
Jets from the Arab coalition have destroyed key military bases and weapons in several cities including the capital Sanaa, Aden, Hodeida, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz and Dhale.
The decisive storm operation came in response to an appeal by legitimate president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi following by the militants.
