Al-Qaeda has seized an oil export terminal and an airport in eastern Yemen raising concerns about the future of the country.
The seizure of the Mukalla air port and Al-Dhabbah oil terminal on Thursday came after oil companies shut down their production operations on all Yemeni blocks.
Al-Qaeda spread in Mukalla more than a week ago.
The local tribes have mobilized to fight them but they are still hesitant to start the battle as some provincial military and security camps are colluding with the militants, local sources revealed.
Meanwhile, clashes continued between popular resistance fighters from one side and the Houthi militants and dissident forces loyal to them from the other side in several cities including Aden, Marib and Shabwa.
In the past two days, clashes erupted in Taiz.
Houthi militants and forces loyal to them have been trying to tighten grip on the city.
Tens of the militants were killed and injured so far after the pro-legitimacy forces and popular resistance fighters repelled attacks in some parts of Taiz.
The popular resistance fighters are now besieging military brigades and security camps controlled by the militants.
Meanwhile, fighter jets from Saudi-led coalition today struck the republican palace and military and security camps in Taiz.
Houthis have been stationed at these places for around a month.
The coalition, which launched a military operation against the militants and dissident forces, also struck stores of weapons, military brigades and convoys in the capital Sanaa, Aden and some other cities.
