Yemen Petroleum Company said on Thursday it has distributed around 129.000 metric tons of petrol to cities which have been experiencing a lack of fuels for more than a month.
A fuel tanker was headed to the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout, and the Aden refinery will be responsible for supplying fuels to southern Aden, Lahj and Dhale cities, it said.
The fuel supply comes as aid already started to reach people on the second day of a humanitarian ceasefire.
The five-day ceasefire ensured a pause of Saudi-led airstrikes that were launched against the Houthi militants on March 26.
Though the militants agreed to the truce, they have breached it hours after it took effect on Tuesday night.
Vessels and planes carrying relief aid arrived today at Yemeni sea and airports and more aid is en route to the country, it said.
Several fuel tankers arrived at the Hodeida port in the past few days and they are being discharged in order to sustain fuel supply, the company said, while adding that a tanker carrying 33.000 metric tons of fuels is now in the sea waiting for a pace to berth at the Hodeida port.
In Sanaa, some fuel stations have started to fill in cars that have been queuing at fuel stations since early today.
The situation has fast deteriorated as escalating violence and a blockade on the country's ports since late March triggered lacks of fuels, food and medicines.
The blockade was part of the Arab military operation against the Houthi militants and forces loyal to the former president following the ouster of the transition president and government.
