The Saudi-led Arab coalition intensified airstrikes against the Houthi militants in Yemen killing many of them and destroying a lot of their weapons.
The airstrikes were reported in the cities of Shabwa, Jawf, Marib, Dhali, Hajjah and Baidha. In some cities, tens of raids were carried out.
Separately, the pro-government forces advanced during the battles with the Houthi militants in Taiz and Baidha, locals said.
In Taiz, the pro-government forces took over areas from the Houthis in southwest of the city as fierce battles broke out in downtown, sources said.
In Baidha, the pro-government forces waged fierce battles retaking the Jabal Jumaida position and forcing the Houthis to retreat.
Moreover, the pro-government forces destroyed and seized weapons including heavy pieces from the Houthis.
Confrontations continued in other cities including Aden, Jawf and Marib as well.
On the other hand, pro-government forces have taken control of a key crossing on the border with Saudi Arabia after days of battles with the Houthis in which the Saudi army participated.
A traveller told the Yemen Post the forces which were lately trained by Saudi Arabia are in charge of the Wadiah crossing now. "We neither saw Houthis nor faced any problems at the crossing. We entered the country smoothly," the traveller said.
Lately, the government revealed it had prepared around 5000 troops to fight the Houthi militants and drive them out of cities such as Taiz and Aden.
