The Yemeni Journalists' Syndicate on Monday warned of continuous attacks on the press by the Houthi militants and urged to release all detained reporters.
In a press release, it said called on the Houthi militants, who ousted the government early this year, to stop intimidating, harassing and arresting reporters.
It reiterated the call for the release of 12 journalists including nine who were abducted at a hotel and interrogated by the police in the capital city of Sanaa and then taken into an unknown place.
The nine were abducted on June 9th and the others in previous months, it said.
Since they ousted the government and tightened their grip on power, the Houthi militants have arrested and abused many reporters.
Organisations said the militants have been involved in physical assaults on, threatening and extrajudicial arrests and interrogation of hundreds of reporters.
Moreover, they have raided, occupied and shut many TVs and media organisations with organisations saying Yemen has become one of the most dangerous places for media and freedom of expression.
