Civilians were killed and injured after the Houthi militants fired rockets on residences in Yemen's city of Taiz early Tuesday, local sources said.
The casualties occurred after targeted houses were ravaged in the districts of Al-Dhabou'ah and Hai Al-Rawdha, they said, without giving figures.
The battles between the forces and the Houthis continued in Taiz and other cities including Baidha, Abyan and Shabwa coinciding with Arab airstrikes.
In the meanwhile, the government forces with support from the Saudi-led Arab coalition and popular resistance are heading toward Taiz to drive the Houthis from it, military sources in the adjacent city of Lahj told TVs.
The forces have combing remaining positions of the Houthis in Lahj after retaking the Al-Anad military base and brigades from the militants, the sources said.
Lahj was the second city recaptured after Aden.
According to a lately revealed plan, the coalition is backing the Yemeni forces to retake all cities in the south, middle regions, then Marib and the capital Sanaa as a prelude to restore power from the Houthis.
The coalition, which has been bombing the Houthis and dissident forces backing them since March, has trained thousands of Yemeni troops and airdropped weapons to them.
However, spokesperson for the coalition, Ahmed Asiri, today denied reports that the coalition has lately dispatched ground troops to Yemen.
In a statement to TVs, Asiri affirmed all forces fighting the Houthis are Yemeni.
