Dozens of civilians including children have been killed and injured in Saudi-led airstrikes and raging battles between the pro- and anti-government forces in Yemen's province of Taiz.
Houthi officials said Friday 43 people mostly children and women were killed in the overnight airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition in the district of Salah.
Others, around 20 civilians, have been killed in Houthi shelling on densely populated midtown areas, sources within the popular resistance said, adding many others have been injured.
The militants are hysterically pounding the districts of Al-Masbah and Oseiferah amid reports they are seeking to retake Taiz again, the sources said.
The Houthi shelling renewed two days ago after Houthi reinforcements including forces loyal to the former president arrived in the city, which the government forces with support from the popular resistance retook lately.
Houthi reinforcements have also been sent to some nearby cities which were retaken lately after deadly months-long battles with the militants.
Today, media reports said Yemeni elite forces which were trained by countries of the coalition have headed to drive the Houthis out of Taiz.
With support from the coalition, the government forces have regained southern cities which were seized by the militants, who ousted the government in late 2014.
International rights and humanitarian organizations are accusing all the warring parties including the Arab coalition of indiscriminate attacks that may mount to war crimes.
Moreover, they have criticized the coalition-imposed blockade on all Yemeni sea, land and air routes which has deepened the humanitarian catastrophe.
