A UAE soldier was shot dead in Yemen's port city of Aden where UAE troops are supporting the government to restore security and assume its responsibilities.
Local sources said unknown gunmen opened fire at the soldier after he got out of their car in the district of Al-Mansoura.
He was with some of his colleagues and the gunmen escaped, the sources said.
Some reports said the victim was a member of the UAE red crescent.
The incident comes amid a fragile security situation in Aden where militant groups such as IS have become active.
Lately, IS attacked the hotel where the government is staying and residence of Arab troops guarding it in Aden killing 15 UAE soldiers. Before this incident, scores of UAE forces were killed in the battles against the Houthis in the province of Marib.
The UAE and Saudi Arabia sent two military brigades to Aden to support the government.
The government came back into the country last month after the national forces and the Saudi-led military coalition retook southern regions from the Houthi militants.
In the meanwhile, the coalition resumed airstrikes against Houthi military camps and weapons depots in the capital Sanaa and other cities including Taiz and Saada.
In Sanaa, heavy airstrikes continued to target the weapon depots at the presidential palace in the Al-Nahdain, two days after the Houthis fired a scud missile into Saudi Arabia from the area.
The coalition said it intercepted the missile over Yemen though the Houthi group said it hit the King Faisal Air Base precisely.
