Yemeni and Arab troops including top officers within the Saudi-led coalition were killed in a missile fired by the Houthi militants in the province of Taiz on Monday.
In statements, the Yemeni government and the coalition mourned commander of the Saudi forces in the country Abdullah Al-Sahyan and a senior UAE officer killed along with troops in the battles in the district of Thubab near the Bab Al-Mandab strait.
Military sources said Sudanese troops were also killed in the attack without giving statistics.
Some reports suggest that 50 troops were killed in the missile attack and others in battles in Taiz.
The Arab military coalition has been bombing Yemen since March in order to restore the legitimacy of the UN-backed government. The government was ousted by the Houthi militants in late 2014.
Weeks ago, the government and the coalition launched an offensive to retake Taiz from the Houthis and forces loyal to the former president.
Hundreds of fighters from both sides have been killed and injured so far.
Houthi media also reported that the Houthi fighters launched ballistic missiles against Saudi bases on the border and Yemen's largest base of Anad in the south.
The coalition continued to strike Houthi forces and weapons in the capital Sanaa and other provinces in the past 24 hours as battles continued to rage in Taiz,Marib, Dhali, Baidha and Jawf.
