A soldier from the Republican Guards forces, led by President Saleh’s son, was killed and an officer was injured in fresh clashes with Aal Al-Dhahak tribe from Al-Jawf’s Nihm district.
Sources reported that soldier Dayel Saeed Qahtan from Taiz governorate was killed in armed confrontations between a military unit from the Republican Guards and some tribesmen belonging to Al-Dhahak tribe.
Local sources mentioned that Al-Dhahak tribesmen claim property rights in the area in which the Jabal Saleb Company for Minerals operates and demand its immediate departure while the Republican Guards unit is responsible for protecting the company.
Other sources stress that the tribesmen were instigated by other parties who were not granted the rights to exploit the minerals abundantly existing in the area. The tribesmen have been also dissatisfied with the sum granted by the company every month.
The government, seven months ago, ordered the company to pay YR 5 million in blood money for the tribesmen of Aal Al-Dhahak and Al-Shuhaif who fought a previous war and resulted in killing one from each tribe.
It also demanded the company to assign 100 jobs for Al-Dhahak and Al-Shuhaif tribesmen.
